Social media, internet, and technology are very powerful things. In just a click of a button, a certain post can reach thousands of people across the globe. This was true for a young man named Christian Zueqsav, who made public his illegal acts on Facebook. Photos of him were seen holding illegal firearms, smoking what seems to be drugs, and boasting about things he stole. For a young man his age, he thinks that he is exempted from the law because he was a minor. This may be because of the Juvenile Offender’s Act (R.A. 9344) which states that teenagers aged 15 and below who commits an illegal activity is exempted from any criminal liability. This is the reason why some minors have the guts to do illegal acts. However, the saying, “The law applies to all, otherwise none at all” still stands. That’s why the young boy was apprehended by the police, and was brought to the precinct for legal actions. The young man who claims to be immune from the law cried for his freedom while he was at the police station. It looks like the boy got a taste of his own medicine. This serves as a reminder for us to be responsible citizens not only on social media, but in real life as well.
